Fatemi Academy was established under the guidance and blessings of the 54th Dāʿī al-Mutlaq, His Holiness Syedna Taher Fakhruddin. As the custodian of Fatimid-Ṭayyibī heritage, Syedna Fakhruddinimparts the enduring wisdom of the Imams, illuminating its relevance to the contemporary world.

The origins of the name “Fatemi”
The name “Fatemi” is derived from the period of Islamic history where the caliphs, the Imams from the lineage of Mohammed, Ali and Fatema (the son in law and daughter of the prophet Mohammed SAW), ruled North Africa and Egypt for a period of ~200 years, prioritizing learning, education, architecture, fine arts, exploration, and inquisition for its populace. Although being Shia Muslim themselves, the caliphs employed experts in various fields such as law, astronomy, finance and business, etc, to not only run the administrative state but also impart education and knowledge via established institutions. The caliph Hakim be-amrillah established the Dar al Hikma (House of Wisdom) as a library and university and was a great patron of learning and education, providing ink, pen paper, and other necessities to all that wished to study there.

The Academy’s faculty comprises distinguished scholars who combine a deep-rooted foundation in traditional Fatimid knowledge with advanced academic training from leading US and UK universities including Cambridge, Harvard, Manchester, Oxford and London.
Our instructors are highly qualified, holding advanced degrees in Islamic studies as well as in secular disciplines.
The faculty comprises of several PhD professors, all of whom have focused their research and study on the intersection of Islamic teachings and its applicability in the modern age. Our faculty have published theses and papers on variety of subjects, including but not limited to: the principles of finance in Islamic law and its application with modern trading systems, Arabic Oration: Its Art and Function as a tool to convey information and be remembered through the ages (in a time when writing was not prevalent), Tahmid : a study of the Arabic laudatory preamble and Fatimid exegesis of the Quran
